The preferred engineered internal core material for modern flush doors, acoustic hotel room entrance leaves, and residential interior doors. Delivers high impact resistance, certified 28 dB to 34 dB sound insulation, and eliminates seasonal door warping.
Tubular Hollow Core Door Particle Board is an extruded interior door infill panel engineered with horizontal cylindrical weight-reduction channels. Delivering up to 60% weight reduction compared to solid timber cores, it provides exceptional flatness, 28 dB – 34 dB airborne sound reduction (ISO 10140 acoustic standard), and eliminates door leaf warping and hinge sagging for commercial internal flush door manufacturers.
Manufactured via horizontal ram extrusion, cylindrical steel mandrels create continuous parallel tubular channels through the wood particle matrix. This forms an engineered arch-bridge engineering structure network: face impact forces are dispersed across adjacent curved arches, delivering high puncture resistance (> 20 kg/cm²) while eliminating 60% of solid core weight.

Tubular cores are manufactured via horizontal ram extrusion, forming longitudinal cylindrical tubes surrounded by a dense, compacted wood particle matrix. This creates a natural 'arch bridge' engineering geometry: perpendicular face impact forces are dispersed across adjacent curved arches, achieving face puncture resistance exceeding 20 kg/cm² while eliminating 60% of solid core weight.
Finished door leaves combining our tubular particle board core with 3mm to 6mm HDF skins achieve acoustic airborne sound ratings between 28 dB and 34 dB (tested under ISO 10140 / ASTM E90). 28-33mm cores deliver 28-30 dB for residential bedrooms, while 38-44mm cores achieve 32-34 dB for hotel guestrooms, hospital wards, and commercial executive suites.
Solid lumber cores expand and contract anisotropically with seasonal humidity fluctuations, causing door leaves to bow, cup, and jam inside door frames. Tubular particle board is an isotropic wood composite with hollow stress-relief chambers; internal hygroscopic tension is neutralized, guaranteeing flat door leaves with under 2mm deviation over a 2.1-meter height.
We produce 5 standard thicknesses: 28mm, 33mm, 34mm, 38mm, and 44mm. Standard slab widths are 700mm, 800mm, 900mm, 1000mm, and jumbo 1250mm, with lengths of 2000mm, 2050mm, 2100mm, and 2150mm. Slabs are precision-sanded to ±0.15mm tolerance for bubble-free HDF and veneer pressing. Include the finished door dimensions, skin build-up, required core size and a drawing if available. The interior door application page provides related product context.
In automated flush door assembly lines, softwood or LVL perimeter stiles and rails (25-35mm width) form the perimeter frame, with a solid hardwood lock block inserted on the latch side. The tubular core slab is placed inside the frame, and 3mm to 6mm HDF/MDF skins are laminated to both faces under 0.4-0.6 MPa hot or cold pressing with PVAc or PUR adhesive.
Because tubular cores are 60% lighter than solid board, ocean containers cube out before hitting highway weight limits. A 40'HQ container comfortably holds approximately 1,400 to 1,800 door slabs packed across 20 to 24 ISPM-15 heat-treated pallets, minimizing per-unit ocean freight costs for international door mills. List slab quantities by thickness and size and specify your destination port and packing constraints. Request a loading plan for your door-core list.
Paper honeycomb is lightweight but offers poor sound insulation (18-22 dB), hollow drum-like acoustic reverberation, and easily punctures under elbow or heel kicks. Solid timber is heavy, expensive, and warps seasonally. Tubular particle board delivers the premium solid-feel closing sensation, 28-34 dB acoustic privacy, and high durability at 40% lower cost than solid timber.
For cold-press lines with PVAc (D3) glue, apply 120-150 g/m² adhesive under 0.4-0.6 MPa specific pressure for 30-45 minutes. For multi-daylight hot presses (80°C-100°C), press time is 3 to 5 minutes. The ±0.15mm calibrated surface ensures complete adhesive contact across the entire core without telegraphing tube profiles. Include the skin material, adhesive system and intended press process in your sample inquiry. For sized components, describe your drawings and tolerances in a cut-to-size service request.
